Who we are and why we exist
Back Fence Publishing was established in 2005 to bring an outstanding children's math book to the public. Eliminating Careless Error addresses the number one problem in school math - Careless Error. We are not aware that anyone has ever truly addressed this problem and schools seem to have a 'sink or swim' attitude to the fexing problem. Careless Error is the foundation of "Math Fear" prevalent in so many adults. If careless error is eliminated in children, so is 'math fear' of later years.
Back Fence Publishing has now added a series of art books by the same author, James Watt, which, once again, show key aspects of math, this time geometry, which are ignored by schools both in art and in mathematics. These key elements are actually the foundation of both art and math and Watt is clear in showing that art, far from trivial, is the perfect place to first learn how logic and geometry work. These books are a fascinating series of lessons forged from 25 years experience teaching children. Over those 25 years, both the children and their parents became passionate advocates of Watt's lessons in classes and now these are available to the entire world. We are thus, very proud of this new series.
